Benefits of running SAP on AWS

Most Complete Solution

The breadth and depth of services enable organizations to improve business efficiency and more easily integrate their SAP application workloads with emerging technologies.

Cost effective

Running your SAP workloads on AWS enables you to reduce total cost of ownership. Access to low-cost IT infrastructure, with rapid, on demand provisioning of infrastructure helps to minimize the overhead associated with hardware maintenance.

Secure and compliant

Running your SAP applications on AWS helps enable you to meet strict regulatory requirements and strengthen your security posture.

Stable and resilient

The AWS global infrastructure consists of regions and availability zones that enable you to architect highly available SAP software environments to meet stringent uptime and availability requirements.

High performance

Amazon EC2 X1 and X1e instances can support memory-intensive applications, such as SAP HANA, with automated resource provisioning, single-pane-of-glass visibility, and optimal application availability.

Migrating Your SAP Workloads to AWS

AWS and ETZ Global provide a variety of migration services to help you move data and applications to the cloud quickly and securely. The following are the most common scenarios in which you can go about running SAP HANA on AWS:

Lift and Shift

Current SAP customers running the SAP Business Suite (ECC) on any on-premises database (SAP HANA, Oracle, MS SQL, etc.), who want it to remain as-is, can migrate their workloads from on-premises to AWS. This dramatically reduces the cost of running SAP and allows them to streamline the adoption of emerging technology, enabling greater innovation and faster time-to-value.

Convert and upgrade to SAP HANA

By moving existing non-HANA SAP workloads and adopting SAP HANA on AWS, customers can deploy SAP HANA in less than 35 minutes (x1 4TB), identify the exact memory requirements, and avoid doing upfront capital investments that will lock them in for years. This applies to both SAP Business Suite (ECC) and SAP Business Warehouse (BW) customers.

New SAP implementation of S/4HANA and/or BW/4HAHA

Net-new deployments on AWS enable customers to gain insights into their SAP footprint and the flexibility to scale-up and down as their business evolves. Further, customers can get almost immediate access to larger instances, with no long-term commitments.

SAP Competency partner

AWS has an AWS Partner Network (APN) Competency specifically dedicated to SAP. Before receiving this competency, partners must pass business, technical, and specialized trainings, prove their knowledge of the AWS Well-Architected Framework, and demonstrate previous SAP on AWS customer success. AWS will not refer customers to APN Consulting Partners to help them gain SAP Competency—customers will be referred to Partners who have already received it. To ensure customers are receiving the service they need, AWS checks in with customers to audit the skills Partners are delivering. AWS is the only cloud provider to do this.
